Voyager supports Serco, one of world’s largest public service providers
Since 2018, Voyager IP has been delivering satellite communications services and support to the two largest vessels operated by Serco Maritime, part of the UK-based Serco Group PLC, one of the world’s largest providers of global public services.
Serco Maritime delivers support services for port and deepwater operations to Her Majesty’s Naval Service, which includes the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Royal Fleet Auxiliary among its branches. The Serco Group delivers global public services in health, transport, justice, immigration, defence and citizen services. It employs 50,000 people managing over 500 large scale public service contracts in the UK and worldwide.
The SD Northern River, the largest of the two vessels supported by Voyager IP, is a multi-purpose support vessel primarily involved in target towing during naval training exercises, noise ranging and data gathering. It also serves as a submarine escort and forms an integral part of training for NATO’s unique Submarine Rescue System (NSRS).
The SD Victoria is a worldwide support ship primarily involved in training operations and the transport of UK military personnel and equipment around the world.
Our Voyager IP team works closely with Douglas McManus, contracts manager at Serco Maritime. Douglas said, “Voyager IP’s solution of specifically breaking out to UK IP addresses and UK VOIP telephone lines is great. Furthermore, its innovative variable service delivery in relation to European coverage versus global coverage set Voyager IP ahead of its competitors when Serco ran a competitive bid for VSAT airtime subscription.
To date, the service delivered has been personal, professional and trusted. Voyager IP has supported Serco in delivering our complex and detailed client requirements,” Douglas continued.
